By not using cavity duplexers!
That is, they probably just run circulators... I don't know. I'm not
into designing these things, just lifting the lid every once in a
while to poke around for fun.

Yeah, but even in more modest frequencies (if you dare to call 500 MHz
modest) plumbing is done. I have that on my network analyzer....
