Yes...

Then there will be no 'ground loop' possible... the reference will be from
the
ground between the modules... as long as THAT is kept clean... ;^)

No... the path shared by the individual modules is a signal ground as
well...
AND the 1/4" and mini connectors.
The biggest part of the trick is to run all the high current / dirty grounds
back
to the low impedance point (usually the junction of the two main filter
caps...
or close to there)... separate from the low current / clean grounds.
Usually you either HAVE a problem... or not. The bigger the system, the
bigger
the risk, and the more effort you need to put up front.
