Hi All,
Still at it on my OB repair. All that is left if the pesky keyboard contacts, and AAARGH! Are they pesky!
I picked up the Chem-tronics keyboard repair kit, and proceeded to apply a fine coat of their nasty goop to the contacts. As well, I used the Chem-tronics Gold Contact Cleaner/Protector pen on the metal contacts. After letting things cure, as per the directions, I fired up the OB. There were still four or five keys misbehaving. So...
I disassembled the board again, and decided to do a touch up coat on the contacts. Followed the same procedure as before, and let cure. Again, still a few keys aren't firing right, and some require that I put pressure on the key right above the spring in order to get the key to fire at all. As well, keys which work well one minute don't seem to work well the next. :-(
I am amazed that the repair kit was not able to fix this problem. It would seem to me that there is plenty of conductive material there now to complete the circuit.
I am going to swap out the DIP sockets on both boards (perhaps I have some grit in there), but is there anything else that could be causing this? Anyone else have experience with the Chem-tronics goop? Old Crow?
Cheers and thanks,
Gavin Muir
