   You can certainly do this.  While it does waste a bit more power than 
systems that don't have separate regulators, the added benefit is that 
each module is now protected from all of the other modules.  So if one 
module decides to blow up, it won't take down the rest.
   While I don't do this, I do put voltage references on every module.  
That way each module has a clean and stable reference to use.  So while 
the main supply rails can be as unstable as they want, if I need a quiet 
reference, it's available for use.
   I also highly recommend using supply bypassing caps.  That also helps 
remove unwanted noise and hash from the circuitry.
