Here's one I haven't told before, at least not on this list. Back in the
early '80's there was an interview with Laurie Anderson on USA Network's
"Night Flight" (Peter Ivers, R.I.P.). Anyway, she was going on about
studying polyrhythms and how 4/4 time was just SO BORING... And then she
made the derisive statement: "Four quarter time is like having sex in the
back seat of a car." My immediate response to the TV screen was "I wouldn't
WANT to have sex with YOU in the back seat of a car you pompous bitch!" I
thought "O Superman" was rather clever but everything since has just left
me cold. I wonder why...


After I finish listening to the Sex Pistols I think I'll go listen to my
Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center albums next. Anybody know where
I can get this stuff on CD? Still looking for the Iannis Xenakis electronic
compositions that used to be on Nonesuch...
