But some lists DO implement that feature very well (check the music-dsp
list for instance), which proves that it's feasable.

That's true, but at the same time such things happen very seldom (at least on
s-DIY).

Probably, although I keep thinking it's a very useful feature.
For example : some s-DIY members reply to the list, others reply to
the sender of the message, some reply to both.
When you post a message to the list and someone emails you a personal reply
(instead of sending it to the list - that happens far more often than
cross-postings
between lists), how do you sort that kind of messages and how do you program
your
email software to put them straight into your s-DIY folder ?
Just asking...
Beside, there's another interesting feature on the music-dsp list :
the list manager asked several months ago that every off-topic message would
have the (OT) tag in the subject line - and members started to follow that
rule
without any problem, which makes sorting on & off-topic messages pretty easy.
One could also suggest that OT messages would be automatically removed from
digest and archives...
I understand pretty well that such requests mean some more work for Rick,
but it has do be done once and for all...
