What you want to achieve is best accomplished with email software that will
filter your incoming messages into different mailboxes automatically. I
have seen other lists that do what you suggest, and some of them don't
implement the feature very well. It is possible to see some messages with
the tag inserted multiple times into the subject line, to the point that
half or more of the original subject is obscured by the tags. Things get
even messier when people cross-post or forward messages to two or more
different lists, which use tags.

Yes, subject tags are one way to sort your incoming emails, but I think
they are far from the best way.
