For coupling values (@.005-1 mfd) I like metallized polypropylene or film
and foil. Sprague Orange drops are an inexpensive option and are commonly
used by amp manufacturers. Another reasonably priced option for values even
to 100mfd is Solen. (100 mfd gets awfully big). Try Antique Electronic
Supply (www.tubesandmore) or Angela Instruments (www.angela)

For my guitar amp, I used oil and paper coupling caps, but these are
expensive and big. I don't recommend them for a rebuild (they do sound nice,
though.) Orange Drops sound really good, especially considering the low
price.

Smaller values? try polystyrene, silver mica, or ceramic disks. Digikey,
Mouser, Allied, and Newark are good sources for these, along with the above
companies.

Large, can-style (like in Marshalls) electrolytic filter caps can be
replaced with Aero M, LCR, Mallory, or new-old stock options. These and
axial lead electrolytics are available at Angela.

Do you have a schematic? You might be able to find it at www.triodeel.com.

good luck,

Neil
