cap id question

bear with me, i'm really new at this.  

what i'm looking for is some sort of site or info to help me ID types of
capacitors.  i've got a silvertone amp that's got to be from the thirties
judging by the badging on it and the caps are literally dripping.  it's a
really simple circuit so i figured it wouldn't be that hard to do a cap job
on this thing.  i have no trouble reading the rating on it (they're huge and
the lettering is black on light orange) but i'm unsure as to what *type* of
caps i'm looking for here.  

are there hard and fast rules for IDing cap types?
