Discrete tube phaser

Hi,
just that if you wanted to use 1950's technology you could  I think
[  I'm not a design engineer ] 
use  Tubes , LDR's and neon bulbs to make a phaser .
you would have to put the neon bulbs and LDR's in a small case to stop
external light causing problems .
I was thinking of doing something similar a while ago , but got
distracted .
I know the Magnavox amp circuits are very cleaver how they work [ I
still don't totally understand them ].
I think the Univibe circuit is also interesting as the capacitor values
aren't the same in each stage , most other phaser circuits I think use
similar stages .
