best arpeg I've got (two of) is the one in the sci 2000/2002 samplers; it lets you play up to 96 notes and it'll replay them in the same order (i.e. a sequence) aswell as all the normal arpeg up/down/up-down/random/1oct/2oct/3oct/latching/non-latching/split stuff. wasn't there one in the poly800 too, or was that just a sequencer?
the "vangelis" effect is easily achieved on a mono/poly- I don't know if the chap actually used one though.
