Because I suspect that behind your question is the real question:

How to DSP in order to make it sound "right".
And sounding right means: nonlinearities make half of the deal.
Without them no "clone".

Or the other way round:

What use would a linear filter approximation be, if it sounds
completely different then the analog original?
