ISD1416 should be able to stop during play.. datasheet indicates edge
triggered will run to EOM, but lvl trig can stop at any time.. These chips
appear quite versatile.. Im thinking of using something like this for a
solid state mellotron sort of thing.. I dont know if you can get away with
varying the clock rate much tho, says not recommended, but well, have to try
it out .. spec sheets for all the ISD stuff at
