Ah... sounds like a Huntron Tracker. We had to build something like that
when I was going to school. Wonder what I did with it.

I remember TomG has posted such a circuit here around xmas '99 or so...
I have a component tester on my scope and I think its highly useful. Its
very handy to test junctions and caps/inductances with AC voltages. It
gives you the answers your ohmmeter or continuity tester won't give you.
