Compressor questions

Hi

I'm designing a compressor (since I can't seem to find reasonable
schematics that don't use special SSM chips).
Control signal path is
level detector -> attack/decay -> log converter -> treshold comparator ->
ratio adjust -> exponential vca control

Is this correct, or should I move attack/decay section more toward the end
of the chain?

I'm planning to use the VCA shown in MAT-04 datasheet. Is there any reason
it wouldn't work if I changed the CV capacitor to 0.1uF from 100uF?
