Well.....it was made out of TUBES!
Tube synths fascinate me not because they might be better. It is
the technical challenge. Plus, there is something about tube circuits
you just don't get with solid state, that "visual" effect. Instead of
tossing an opamp at a problem, you have to say "How can I do this with a
dual triode?"
I would be joining in the fun except for one big reason: I barely
have enough time to work on the solid state versions!"
Anyway, I should not have replied, but these are the reasons I would
be building a tube synth, if the luxury of time was on my side.
Also, if I was building a tube synth, I would want to put it in a
cabinet with a style that would fit right in the '30s. A tube synth is
more than just something to make sound with, it would have to be a work
of art both visually and electronically.
