Well, uhhh..... the biggest sonic advantage is the loud chorus of oohs and aahs
you get when people actually see the monstrosity and find out you built it yourself.
 ;-)

But seriously, there are no sonic advantages that I am aware of, although I
REALLY like the sound of a thyratron for a sharp percussive envelope. A number
of months ago, a list member suggested that it would be very difficult or impossible
to build an ADSR using just tubes. I took that as a challenge, and now here
it is, just for the fun of it! Sonic advantages were never part of the discussion,
it was more geared towards demonstrating the flexibility of tube design.
