Obtaining parts: sources and hints, part substitutions.

I just put a page up where I have compiled a list of components sources
in the USA, and some hints on obtaining parts cheaper.

One of the hints I give is to learn where component substitutions can be
made. I plan on compiling some hints into a page, and I am asking for
your hints also.
Publishers of schematics should add notes about part substitutions on
their pages also.
