I think noone wanted to say that Eric´s products are no good.
Tube stuff does sound it´s own way, and has for sure a right for
existence.
AFAIK Eric uses new tubes, and they are not some special hard-
to-come-by types, so everyone can replace them if they wear out
sometimes.

There have been menufactured countless millions of C64s. Alone
here in germany they sold approx. 3 millions of them. So they are
neither hard to find nor expensive. And most of the 64s are just
lying around because the inferior power supply died and noone
wants to buy a prelacement one or build one himself.
So, when trowing it into a landfill, why not pull the SID chip out
of it before that ?

Of course. Everybody can sell whatever he wants, as long as it
is not illegal stuff.
But of course there are limits - Dieter D´s call to rip CEM chips from
your vintage synths to make A100 modules that are sold as "new"
is for sure bad practice.
But everybody who really buys SID related stuff knows that someone
has pulled that chip out of a C64 and accepts that.
