Well, the SAW VCO on my site is my attempt at updating and improving the EN
#62 VCO (Terry Michaels). These are both quite similar to the ASM-1 unit. My
updated circuit uses the LM394, which works very well.

As can be seen, I divided the HF compensation between the Franco technique
(dead time correction with a resistor in series with the timing cap) and the
Moog-Hemseth technique (bulk emitter resistance correction). As Tony pointed
out, if you are only concerned with frequencies up to ~8 kHz this is
overkill, but I was able to get very good HF tracking to over 20 kHz.
