HD I guess.
They trun with some 110Hz, but might generate overtones.

That's a LIve SAmpling proggy, not a machine.

Hook it up to your stereo.
As with all computers and noises, take care of good grounding.
And I never heard of people putting soundblastercards in their Macs.
I would like to hear from you guys how that is working out!!!
For those of you who can read dutch, my site contains info on PC hardware
in Macs.
>are people generally happy with the quality of mp3 for anything other than
>>browsing?
Yes, the youth is, just like I was happy with cassettes.
>is the mass-marketing of digital audio really going to change from cd-sale?
Nope.
>mini-discs are ok-ish for walkthings, but they haven't really even started
>taking sales away from cd in the uk,
It's the only safe format in live situations, since:
- cd's skip.
- cdr's cannot always be read.
- cdr's can bleach=die in sunlight
- DAT manage to ffwd to the other end in 2 secs, but it takes minutes to
set it at the right spot again (and then you won't be sure if you succeeded)
- DAT tapes can loose timecode, the solution is formatting. :-O
- cassettes are too noisy and wowy.
- Revox 2 tracks do 'clack' acoustically, and are way to heavy to carry around.
MD however:
- is safe, no hiccups, and my first MD hasn't died.
- insensitive for jerks who bang your table
- is always fine in timing
- allows perfect editting
- allows names, so you can be sure where you are.
- no need to ffwd nor rew.
- no risk of recording over material
- have auto pause (they can stop in the end of a track, and wait for you to
release it)
At home I use CDR, but in live situations I consider MD to be the only
sollution, and the little jpeglike blur it has is but a small
inconveinience.
>omehow all that chucked-away data seems to be all the stuff I didn't want
>anyway,
>like background noise from people at the bar or the air conditioning being

What MD does is close to what digital video does with greys.
Ever pointed a camera at the dark evening sky? It's not gray, it's blue on
your TV!
It's the greys that get coloured more, it's the noise that becomes tonal.
So it'll add a smoothiness to harsch noises. Actually sony's do that more
then Sharps. Sharps are sharper.
Actually, as the noise is out, you should have more trouble with figuering
out wheater you hear background or foreground noises, as 3D every day life
perception dies in the Mics and the MD. So, if you like it's sound, both
your mics and MD work out very well for your personal set of hears and
wetware.
so, my 20m$
