ot: Acoustic Model 9901 speakers - scam?

and I thought that this only happened in Phoenix. heh..
I've had this a couple times... My friend actually ended up buying a
pair.  Funny, I was just talking to him about this yesterday.  I asked
him what happened with that deal... He said he got ripped off so bad,
and the speakers went to goodwill (a thrift shop) he was so disgusted
with them.
