That is definitely NOT my experience. There must be a problem with the hard
drive or PSU for that unit.  While there is some hard drive noise while on,
for the most part the iMac is a good 10-20 Db quieter than the Pentium
system with fan. Also the speakers with iSub are not half bad as a monitor
system in themselves.
