OK. Waaay back in time when Gene did the PCB layout, he fixed a few
minor things and added a few components which never was backannotated
to the schematic. What you found there is an series-resistor which
follows the resistor-divider on the squarewave output. On the
solderside there is a trace shorting this resistor out. If you want a
series resistor, you need to cut that trace.

You can safely leave this unstuffed. Things will work anyway. It's
just an undocumented feature ;)

PS. The reason I can quickly is that I still have a naked ASM-1 PCB
which I haven't got around to build. So I do think I know what you are
talking about ;)
