The secret ground plug is also nice:
It works on electronic systems that share the ground leak switch (that'll
turn off when the 'neutral' or 'phase' wire connects to ground, one way or
another.
assembling is easy:
Get a battery powered alarmclock, and refresh the lithium battery of your VCR.
Stick your Voltmeter in your grounded wallconnection, and find the neutral.
This mostly is a few volts above or below ground, enough for detection.
(If your wallsocket is symetric, mark the 'neutral'hole)
Open up a plug, and take out the phase pin. Connect the neutral pin to the
ground.
Plugging it in will flip the mainswitch sparkless. There's no way to
flopping it back on as long as you leave the plug.
I had to McGyver this as I had a drinking neighbour:
"If you ever hear me playing my music to loud, please tell me... I only
play music when I'm drunk... When I'm drunk I'm agressive, so you better
not see me then."
Once I made the mistake to knock the floor, and I heard him yell nasty
things at me all night long. I only had to use the plug 3 times, as he
smashed the cdplayer when I plugged in, and he got tired of buying new ones
that quickly.
I did move after a while, though.
