I heard...
There's one Kasper Souren on the list...
And I heard...
He's a mathematician and he's heading for The Hague
to do sonology, and probably... surely...
he'll be in the biggest DIY studio in the .nl
***BEA5***
Is that correct? Cos if it is, we'll soon have an experience in common.
For those of you who wonder what BEA5 is:
In the 30s 40s the dutch lamp company Philips asked the composer Varese to
make a studio with them and to produce his electronic music in it. Philips
needed it for the image in the electronic world, and Varese of course,
well, those were the days.
This studio went to Utrecht in the 60s, to the University as part of
Physics and Music History. In three studio's both analogue and early
digital compositions were made and researches were done. In the early
nineties this Sonology department, as it was called, moved to the Royal
Conservatory and the three studio's were compressed into one room, BEA5,
and the electronics were expanded futher (though the realy old stuff went
to the gemeente museum).
Now it's a hudge synth over 2 walls in size, 90% selfbuilt, mainly by Jo
Scherpenisse. The third wall is filled with 5 studers. The patchbay is
about a square meter, and very dense. It has a very distinct sound, and
it's a real experience to set the thing to work.
