Hi Tony,
Another keyboard that uses 3 delay stages in the ensemble module is the ARP Omni.
And that also sounds good IMHO.
I think they are SAD512's but my memory may be letting me down.
The whole ensemble assembly is on one daughter board and it comes out real easy, so if 
you wanted to make a standalone unit out of it, it would not be too hard I imagine.
Also I think broken Omni's are probably more abundant than broken Poly Sixes??
