Come on you guys. Get serious.
Tubes are valves with a metal tube around them, you ought to know!
This is to hold the presure when it exeeds the limits, as happens with
guitar people who tend to go into distrortion.
(en kom nou Theo, you can't regulate the pressure of the Tube amp with a
Valve, that is, if you want to keep the sound!)
And valves not only sound warmer because they are, but they also sound more
transperant. They do not miniaturize the sound. And let's be fair, what
would you expect from such small and cheap transistors!

You can check out the above at http://www.amplimo.nl Witch is the 'local'
tube + transistor + transformator + elco (= capacity = Leidse fles = Bottle
from Leiden) suplier, I have very good experiences with them, especially
with the modules.
(we have 30 semi selfdesigned stereo amps in use, mostly used at max volume
by the dance students some 8 hours a day. Fried parts are replaced for
free.)

But beware, valveamps (not tubes, those are safe) can put potentially
killing volts on the speaker output!
Futher more, I'd enjoyed the shock talk in the list (120v mains and
biofeedback treads). I think we should not only have a FAQ to the group,
but also a BH (Best Hits) file. For therapeutic reasons only of coarse.

Shall I? I do have the webspace for it.
