Is "potentially fatal" dangerous enough for you?

I'm a little surprised that you felt the need to ask, but I'm also very
glad you did. It's much better than assuming there isn't a serious danger
involved.

Yes, many people have been shocked by 120 Vac and lived to tell about it.
Yes, many of them suffered little, if any, noticeable side effects. 

HOWEVER  -  Many people have also died from encounters with 120 Vac!

I suggest that you not let your child be one of the unlucky ones. I would
start by covering any unused electrical outlets. There are inexpensive
plastic plugs that can be inserted into outlets for this purpose. I'm sure
there are lots of other precautions that can be taken as well. Perhaps some
other members of the list have some other safety suggestions?
