along the lines of playing by touching the electronics (but not quite), an
idea popped into my head. I've got a couple of old HP laser interferometers
tucked away in the basement that I picked up at a scrap yard, along with
their control and pulse counting electronics. So I start thinking, why not
use the output from the interferometer's sensor to control a synth. I'm not
sure how the circuit outputs the pulse count, but I'm thinking there must be
a way to look at the rate of pulses over small intervals (how quickly the
interference fringes are going by) as well as the number of pulses, and use
that to generate some kind of control voltage. by shining the laser on a
surface and pushing against the surface, control could be acheived.
Yet another project for the list of things to do..
