OK Kids...

I like to "play" as much (maybe more) as the next guy.
But this has gone too far.  If you "fight fire with fire"
then you end up getting burnt.

I'm not in favor of the eviction of list members. If it
needs to be done then I feel everyone who "contributes"
to the flames deserves an equal spanking.

OTOH I agree that the list administrator is the
final arbiter, and I respect his judgement call. This list
is a great service and favor to us all. Thanks Rick!

A lot of the hurt feelings can be attributed to the fact
that e-mails make it hard to tell if a person is being
"playful" or "hurtful". And after someone takes offense,
things start getting nasty.

If someone says someting about ME, I assume that it is
usually good spirited. If I have a problem with a response,
or feel that it is not good spirited, I take it OFF LIST
to that person in private, and try to smooth things out.
Several of you have been contacted (by me) in this fashion.
Sometimes the one-on-one personal contact can actually help
you understand another person, and turn a potential enemy into a friend !

Y'know if the "slightly offensive and pointless pseudonyms" are
really "slightly offensive" and "pointless" then you should be
only slightly offended (so no further action prolonging a flamewar
is necessary).

The person in question "Mr. Sausage in greaseproof paper" has contributed to 
the list, has some nice stuff on his website, and
IMHO has the same rights to sunlight and air as the rest of us.

And hey, I want to know what "lasse iladan" is too ! It might be
really interesting...  ;^)

But what do I know ?  I'm just an "ugly american"
