>And, if for a domestic (home) system would it be possible to build a Single
>Sub-woofer and run it off the same amplifier which powers the main 2-way
>speakers?
Yes. You'll need to build a filter, with matching coil and capacitor to
spilt the signal in low and higher freqs.

>Would this arouse issues of impedance?
No and yes.
No, as the signal is split, so for each frequency the amplifier sees only
one speaker of some 8 ohm.
Yes, as filters behave quite complex. You want to filter some 12 dB per
octave, so there's a zone where the amp sees a complex filter and half of
each speaker. You'll need some math and exact knowledge of the used
speakers and the used shape of the box to solve the riddle. If you do it
well, you'll get a clean sound.
But you might just choose to do it quick and dirty, and see if you're
satisfied.

>Oh yeah.... does anyone agree that the theory behind "Bi-wiring" (not
>Bi-amping) does not make sense? Can anyone *please* explain the logic to me?
It's an impedance and capacitor thing. Having double wires already brings
impedance down a lot (more then cables twice as big would.
Futher, it's said that the low freqs bother the highs in the wire. From a
phisics point of view, it's a small effect, but I guess we've all
experienced that effect that are neglected by some, matter to others.
So. If you filter your sounds on the amp side of the wire, you (might) not
have some losses that you would otherwise have.
Experimenting is easy if you can remove the filters out of your speakers
and place them on your amp and bi-wire the lot.

Biggest change: you start listening carefully. The listeners mindset is the
most important influence on sound quality. :-)
