[sdiy] ultimate beginner - suggestions?

Hello,

I'm looking into starting a small project and learning about DIY. I've seen 
on Paia's webpage a book called "Electronic Projects for Musicians" by Craig 
Anterton. Paia sells this book and the parts for what can be built in this 
book.

Does this sound like a good idea for first projects? I have absolutely no 
soldering experience whatsoever. I could also use some guidance on where i 
should get a soldering iron... the tools I'll need.
