Come on guys!....Please! If you want to use banana jacks
and you need to switch something use a switch.. If you
plan on building a huge synth and don't want it to end up
the size of a small battle ship 1/8 is the only solution.
Patching in off-world devices requires adaptors...Not
really a big deal but enough to send some directly to the
1/4 camp.

I went 1/8 after giving up on banana. I expect to build any
sound processing stuff my modular needs into my modular
so they will also be 1/8 standard. I like 1/4 , if they didn't
take a 1/2 inch of panel space I would use them. However
nice it looks. I don't want a synth the size of the one in the
picture at synthesizers.com.

I don't have room or money or enough ass (that's southern
for I think it weighs a lot!) for something like that. Yes....I
sold my Marshalls. If I ever take another gig that includes
roadies to haul them around for me again, I'll buy some
more. Until then the Ampeg V5 is the heavyest thing I
want to have to carry and I put wheels on it. No I'm not
a wimp. It's got 2 EVM 12Ls and 4 - 6550s in it. It's
heavy.

The only complaint I have so far is that when I run out of
cables I can't start grabbing up guitar cords. I have to actually
sit down and make more....I got a 1000 ft roll of 2 conductor
22 AWG stranded w/sheild and a gross of 1/8 jacks. So far
it's been great!!

I just love the 12r SBK Serge solution. That's a ton-o-fun
in a small package, but like I said banana jacks are out. So
what I ended up with is a 12r SBK mixer case (the Serge
one) stuffed with 4 Frac-Rack frames w/modules and 1/8
jacks. This is pretty much what I was looking for. I can get
20 - 2 space modules in a 12r case. Carrying it to the car
or to and from the studio is not an ordeal. I can actually pop
the top on and take it all patched up. It's almost like having
a big Synthi a. If I had used 1/4, that wouldn't be possible.

It's pretty kick-ass these days. I'm having new white on
black vinyl overlays made for the old Maxx 1&2 modules to
dress them up now that I've actually settled on a panel graphics
standard...............That's a whole other story....;-)
