[sdiy] MIDI to CV converters

I am after a MIDI to CV converter.  Something reasonably cheap would be
better, but I want to make sure I get all the features that will be useful.
I would be interested in anything from a kitset to something I can build
from scratch.  So far the best I have seen (from what I can tell) is the
MidiDAC from Oakley Sound Systems.  Can anyone here recommend the MidiDAC?
Or anything else?
