   I absolutely disagree. I use so called effects anywhere in the
   chain. Just think about reverberating control voltages... 

I'm not trying to discourage anybody from using an effect anywhere in
the chain -- heck, I'm on a CD playing a VCO1 -> reverb -> VCO2 setup
on a Buchla.  (It's a very strange sound.)

I'm just pointing out that some modules are entirely intended for, and
almost always used as, an end-of-the-chain effect.
