note.. size of a cigarrette packet.. this was probably not a monolithic chip 
as we know it.. I have some early op amps like this, a 2cm square by 1.5cm 
high plastic block.. functionally an op amp, but inside I think they use a 
ceramic substrate, maybe the thin film resistors and transistor chips 
mounted straight on the board rather than casing them first.... like the STK 
audio amp hybrid 'ics' - not fabricated in a multi transistor chip at all!
