Not only Martin, but me too. And whilst it may be known by physicists,
it is not taught at UK schools in the electronics or physics curriculum,
either now or when I was at school. Furthermore, it is unlikely to be
taught in an EE degree course at University. Whilst, I was at University
in the mid 1980s, the only mention of a tube based device was the TWT
amplifiers in satellite electronics. So although I knew how to design a
CPU on a CAD system or a wideband RF amplifier, etc I was never ever
going to come across any valve amplifiers let alone rectifiers. I now
know this to be a great shame. Sounds a lot more fun than interpreting
Smith charts.

Thanks Eric.
