>>Sonic foundry doesn't have any poblems paying the rent. Or, at least, they
>>didn't until management went funny.

>So this justifies stealing their work?

According to Matti, this justifies:
>>To reiterate : "For a good
>>piece of software written by people at a reasonable price, fine" .....

So stealing ideas and work is "OK when the price is to high."
And so Matti contributes to
higher prices (since a smaller % of the users is paying)
crippleware (shareware with less features, or quitting after 30mins)
etc.

If he was to defend the distrubution methodes of Linux,
I would sympathise. But this is the category 'shoplifting in bigwarehouses.'

Not that I am such a holy man, I too have a not too legal version of Office.
(kept that from the days I was a win-word-excel teacher)
But I did pay my OS, ProTools and my MSP and the rest is freeware.
Have to pay my Interarchie still, though.

But he failed to see - or didn't respond to - the point I made, which was:
He told us not to mind other people downloading retail software.
This is solely a users point of view, he seems to miss the engineers situation.
