Anyone using text editors and command line assemblers/compilers for
microcontroller based projects should have a look at Enigma -
http://www.enigma-uk.freeserve.co.uk/Enigma.htm

It's a free IDE that supports multiple languages and can be configured to
build your project using any command line assembler/compiler/linker.

I've been using it with SDCC (a freeware 8051 c compiler) and it's awesome.
I can't believe they aren't charging money for it.
