>Velocity is the basis of all synth patches that have dynamics...

Actually I should have quantified my answer a bit better. For me
velocity is more important than A/T on polysynths. So Harry I'm with you
for this application.

But A/T is more important on a monosynth for me. I didn't used to think
so. I do now. Why the change of heart? It was buying a Roland SH-2000.
This has no velocity, but it does have A/T. I remember telling Juergen,
when he designed his JH-720 monosynth why he put A/T but didn't put
velocity on it. Juergen was limited to the hacked keyboard he had, from
a SH-2000, but he did say that A/T was more suitable for him. And now
that I have a SH-2000 I have to agree with him. I then went on a rampage
and put A/T on all my homemade monos... from opening the filter,
changing the pitch of a sync'd VCO, adding LFO or changing PW. But, OK I
could have made the mod wheel do all of this, but for one thing. I have
one pair of hands. Yes, its true :-) Which means while I playing
strings/pads/chords/arpeg etc on my Poly controller, I can do the Rick
Wakeman bit with my right hand. And although I used to use my nose to
hold keys when I played live on a three keyboard set up, I'm getting too
old to do that now. :o)
