Same here. Over the years it always seemed that anyone visiting
my studio would invariably be drawn to the ugliest, bare-aluminum,
badly-labeled, mismatched-knob creation. 

Them: "What's that?" 
Me: "Something I built, but I built this too." (Pointing to a panel
I was proud of).
Them: "But what is that?" (pointing to the ugly one)

Now I'll just think of Dr. Bob's first off and say "It's a prototype."
