I feel spoiled now- I have always had so many different ways to achieve this, revoxes and so forth just lying around the place. tape-echo (whatever the interval) just sounds so much better than digits or bbd's BUT check out the line-6 delay emulator; I've used 1/4" machines, melos units, copycats, space-echos, "pro"-cassette decks.... this little green metal box does the most convincing tape-delay I've ever heard. all that's missing on it is a piezo-pickup in the case somewhere so that it'll do a little wobble if you kick it, like a binson....
ElectroHarmonix used to make a slap-echo pedal for guitarists, using bbd I think.
