[sdiy] WTB: 606 / 303 small knob caps

The costs for me making the knobs are $2 a piece including my labor.. Pretty
cheap when you consider that you would prlly be charged waaay more than that
for them.. Plus, too, the clay used comes in a HUGE variety of colors, and
can be mixed to suit your needs or creativity, however crazily!

A friend of mine has also managed to use a lightbox 3d scanner and has the
image in solidworks, but we never bothered to convert it to cam machine
diagram, otherwise we could prlly machine one out of metal, which would look
killer!

BTW, you can get silver polymer to use for the operation. The color stays
very well..

BTW, in the sharing of info edict of the community, I use polymer clay (pvc
with embedded plastitizer) to make the mold of the original and the
replacement knobs.

I am not going to say which brand only because I want to invite
experimentation, and if I say the brand I use I won't get a chance to hear
if anyone was able to have better/worse luck using some other brand than
mine.

The major brands are Fimo, Sculpey, and Cistern. Try it! Great for replacing
or restoring hard to get pieces.. but the molding/cooking process is an art
unto itself, and even being given the info on how to do it does not mean you
will get good results initially.. I know this very well. It has taken me a
week to get my kneading/thinning/molding/cooking/exposure/artifact removal
process just right.

Rob
