[sdiy] (Speaking of...)CCD as BBD????

Hi!
I've been into camera technology recently and got quite involved in CCD
devices and their operation theory. Esentialy they are like a BBD but
laid out in a square matrix. Also, the input signal (light) not only
enters the first 'bucket' as it would happen on a BBD but incides on
all photosensors at once. With a set of commonly 6 clock signals
Charges are transfered horizontally and vertically to a buffer line
from where the charges are read out individually to form the continuous
video signal.
Well, after this short intro, let me tell you my weird idea: Recycle a
CCD to use it as a BBD!
<insert mad scientist laugh here >
First, the audio signal should be transformed properly to light using a
linerized diode or something. The bipolar audio signal should be offset
so that 'barely no light' is in fact a negative audio voltage?
Then, this light should be applied to one single cell of the CCD. How?
I don't know, maybe a mask with a tiny hole? Depending on what cell you
are driving, you shold get different delay times (?)
The transfer pulses should be slowed down as to get usable delay times
for audio...
Theorically it is a good idea (IMHO) but could it be feasible?
Imagine a BBD with 1 Millon buckets :)
Now anyone got a spare camera and a screwdriver?
