Sorry about the error, one of the reasons I brought up this book is (in many
ways) it deals with free access of unfiltered information on competing
networks. Free access is the key to success. I also highly recommend
"Dalgren" by the same author, more in the stream of conscience mode...

In case you were, like me, curious about this book, and searching for it at
Amazon, the author's name is actually Samuel R. Delany (not Delaine). The
Amazon reader reviews are so overwhelmingly positive and effusive with
praise
that I'm just going to have to run out and find a copy as soon as possible.
Here's an example of one of those reviews:
"When your everday perception becomes narrow and dim,
some books have the capacity to shake you out of it. This is one of those.
It's been years since I read Stars in My Pocket, so I won't go into detail,
but I will say: I've never been so glad to have read anything. "
...And almost all of the other reviews express similar heartfelt sentiments.
I'd never heard of Delany before, but after reading a bit about him on the
web, I'm already fairly well convinced that I'm gonna really like him. I've
found him variously described as "cultural critic, science fiction writer,
philosopher, literary analyst, rationalist and most of all, full-fledged
member of humanity", and as "a writer and thinker whose work has had an
enormous influence across a startling range of literary and paraliterary
genres: science fiction, autobiography, pornography, historical fiction,
comic books, literary criticism, queer theory, and more." How can I resist?
Thanks for the tip, Robert!
Best regards,
Michael Bacich
