Hi Ken...
speaking for myself only, making commercial products
is NOT forbidden, only making them without the express
permission of the author is forbidden.
Note that if you find this stuff published on the web,
you can probably liberate it without legal trouble and
use it commercially. Who can prove it ???
OTOH: Morally, you would be a WEENIE !!! (USA slang for
a very PERSONAL sausage, wrapped in paper or not as you like!)
Most people would probably be happy to have you use an idea, but
you should contact them and get their permission. They may want
you to credit the idea to them.
My PV-1 pitch to voltage converter was based on "the Etherwave
Pitch to Voltage converter by Bob Moog and used with permission"
Says so right on the PCB... no problem (I asked, Bob agreed...)
If someone says "no commercial use"... then ask first. They might
agree anyway ;^)
If the circuits are straight from the data book or liberated from
extinct manufacturers, garnered from expired patents, you are OK.
I prefer to mention those who originally designed circuits.
H^) harry
