[sdiy] zener question/passwords

Thanks everyone for your help so far with the zener
question.
I'm employing an NE570 (-+24V) in my circuits and am
still awaiting it's arrival! I've got an NE571 (-+18)
that I want to try NOW! I drive my stuff from -+12V,
but this will blow the 571 Compander, so I'm looking
for a temporary 'quick fix'. I've built a pair of
voltage followers (correct term/not sure?) which give
me anything -+ under 12V split rail, but there is no
room for the final circuitry. I'm also having doubts
about using this chip or its sibling due to
availability/potential obsolesance.
Regarding passwords, it would seem a shame to rule out
the people wanting access to all this brilliant info
that people like to share about because of one guy!
BTW, I too am looking to produce machines for the
general public, admittedly on a smaller scale than the
big 'D', will this rule me out too? Crikey, I hope
not!
