[sdiy] [diy] Simulating circuits in SPICE

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to build the VCO from ASM-1, 
and I'm wondering if anybody has experience in
simulating this circuit in SPICE because
I just can't get the thing to oscilate. 
The problem is somewhere in CA3140/LM311 part.
The LM311 has a pin (Ground) that (from PCB picture)
seems to be connected to -15V. Is it absolutely
necessary to use CA3140 model in SPICE? Or 
could it be that SPICE somehow doesn't handle
this type of feedbacks. Thank you in advance,
