[sdiy] Analog on PCI

Just picked up the last Elektor issue, and it features a very
interesting article : a PCI experiment board, with a
pre-configured PCI decoder / interface, plus lots of free
space to add your own electronics.

Of course, an idea popped up in my (old & tired) mind :
why not stuff the rest of the board with a uC and some
VC analog modules, have different copies of such a board,
stuff an old PC or Mac motherboard with 3 (or more) such
boards, and develop a small soft app (under Linux or
whatever) to take care of patches & parameters settings
(like the Nord Modular) ?

It could make a nice hybrid machine...
